The Swedish Film Institute is a state-funded foundation with the mission to strengthen Swedish film at all levels – from idea to finished film, launching in Sweden and the world, as well as preserving and making the Swedish film heritage accessible.

At Filmhuset in Gärdet, Stockholm, the Swedish Film Institute operates a versatile cinema facility. The activities and assignments have a very broad scope and varied content; from film screenings to discussions, events, and conferences, aimed at creating a vibrant Film House.

The cinema consists of three auditoriums, one of which is classified as a reference cinema, served from a common projection room. The projection technology includes qualified resources with the capacity to show most analog and digital image and sound formats.

We are now looking for a qualified cinema technician/projectionist. The position is full-time and permanent with a six-month probationary period. Start as soon as possible. The cinemas have screenings seven days a week, and three technicians work on a rotating weekly schedule that includes evening and weekend shifts.

Job Responsibilities

The technician's work includes planning and executing screenings, conferences, and events. Customers should be provided with the best possible film or conference experience.

It also includes maintaining and developing the cinema's technical equipment and planning preventive maintenance and replacements.

What we are looking for in you

We see that you have worked with cinema screenings and have knowledge in preparing and executing both digital and analog film screenings. It is an advantage if you have worked with conferences and events in a larger public venue. It is also advantageous if you have experience working with archival material and managing audio, lighting, and other conference technology. Knowledge of and a strong technical interest, as well as experience in maintaining mechanical and digital cinema equipment, is seen as a benefit. In addition to qualified technical skills, the job requires good organizational skills and a high level of service.

You always have a professional, friendly, and service-oriented approach, both towards customers and colleagues. You are cooperative and understand the value of working together in a team. As a person, you should be self-driven, unpretentious, and have good pedagogical skills. To ensure screenings, you also need to be flexible, solution-oriented, and have good IT skills.
